Posting Guidelines

Some ground rules for posting on the PST forum.

We support free expression and will try to avoid deleting or editing posts whenever possible. But we retain the right to do so for any reason, without cause.

However, here are some of the ground rules.

1) We don't put up with abusive posts here. Constructive criticism is encouraged but mean spirited posts or replies are not. Much of the value of this place depends on mutual respect and civil behavior. We will protect this. That said, I am proud to say we have an exceptional track record thus far.

2) Overt sexual imagery or foul language is not allowed. This is not about nudity or the artistic appreciation of it. This is about mutual respect. We have many young viewers here including "children". We also have members that may not wish to be exposed to lurid content. It is impossible to define in detail what would be a violation here. But think of it this way. If you were the manager of a gallery or museum where all ages of people were welcome you would make decisions about the content you would display. It would be based on a reasonable evaluation of the works and your audience. Here our audience is global and our age range is wide. We will protect artistic expression within reason. But works/posts deemed "pornographic" or "profane" will be removed as soon as they are found based on our best judgment.

3) We do not support "pirated" software. If a user/member admits to stealing software the post will be deleted. This also applies to prerelease versions of software. Users may discuss desires for future versions and features at will, they may reference other sources, but they may not post the existence of, or the feature set for, a potential product. There are only two scenarios where a user could have access to this information, a) the user/member is under contract with a developer not to disclose information (NDA) or b) the user/member has access to a stolen copy. In either situation we will not be a voice for the distribution of this information.

Violations of these rules will result in one warning. A second violation will result in an immediate ban from the forum. To respect user/members privacy we will attempt to send warnings via their personal email but we reserve the right to warn in the forum itself.

On a personal note:

I am not fond of having to set down these ground rules but it is important to the long-term health of this community that we act responsibly when it comes to certain aspects of our communication.

If you see a potential violation, please make me aware of it. I will handle it from there.

Please know that I will make every effort to keep our expression open and dynamic. We have a great community here. With your help, we can keep it that way.
I appreciate your help and understanding in this matter.
