OK, I just picked up a copy of PS & Ill CS, but I have not yet installed them. When I switched from PS 6 to 7 I read a thread here about how a lot of things changed (for the worse) in how PS handled printing and/or colormatching, etc. (can't remember the specific details, but I read it here). Because of this I left 6 installed when I installed 7.
So my question is, did CS fix these issues (reverting back to 6.x in handling these) or did they leave them as done in 7.0?
I ask because if they changed it back to the 6.0 way, then I don't need to keep 6.0 installed. If they are still using the same stuff as 7.x I will need to keep 6.0 installed and just install CS over top of 7.
Thanks,

I'm unaware of any issues with printing and v7. There were a couple minor bugs that were fixed with the 7.0.1 update. CS seems a solid, usable version right out of the box here.

I would agree 100%, but if you go over to Adobe's forums, there are several LOUD users that appear to be in the minority asking for MAJOR changes. You can never please some people, apparently. ;}
Brain21, if you are referring to what I think you are referring to, (the change in behavior in blending modes) that was fixed with 7. There are both types of dodge and burn in 7 and CS.
I'm fairly sure there weren't any major changes to color handling from 6 to 7 to CS... (Can anyone else confirm this? I'm not too confident...)

There was a problem with the ink limit of V7 that was corrected in 7.01
IIRC, the dodge and burn blending modes did change form V5.5 to V6...

I'm still very uncertain of what exactly you are referring to brain21. Since Adobe released the 7.0.1 update, I've used that version. Since Adobe released CS, I've used that version. I've had no issues with four color, two color and one color work printed for a variety of project and also with web graphics.
Yes the blending modes changed a little bit a couple versions ago. That's not so much as a problem and a need for users to get accustomed to the new way they work.
The word "copy" is no longer appended to file names the way it was in v7.0.1. So that annoyance has been fixed. But it was never really a problem, just an undesirable behavior.
If you can specifically say what it is you are worried about I'd be happy to run tests specifically for you to alleviate any aprehension you may have.

My concerns were mostly with the tiff options and color profiles from digital cameras when I was installing 7.x I upgraded to 7.01, but since I was used to using 6 for certain functions (I liked printing from 6 better too) by default, Inever really noticed that these things had been fixed. The "Copy" never bothered me as I eventually got used to it!
Anyway, a lot of those responses were not there when I installed 7. I think I can get around the TIFF problem (and i rarely use previews and wont be using version cue, so i wont need an extra composite layer, so ill just set it that way and leave it (unless it wont let me), and i am currently not using a digital camera (though i am using a scanner which embeds profiles) so that might be a pain, but i'll find a way to get around/used to it. So basically I had these concerns then, and wanted to know if i should still have them.

I think that Dan "firestarter" Margulis retracted a lot of his comments after the dot release. there was also a patch for the exif (the fault was several camera manufacturers.. and anyways there is Camera Raw, now...)
With Tiff, you just need to be careful. of, if you set up an action, you can just insert a flatten.
Anyways, TIFF has changed in V8 (CS) so that now it can be 4 Gigabytes... of course, the Rip and Printer drivers need to be updated to use that function.
In fact, the Tiff with layer is better than the former version (besides its weight) it is jut the slow programmers of RIPs that does only follow changes years after they are made. This is why the print industry is so static... How many people are still using Quark because they haven't updated their RIP, that chokes with some functions of new PDF files...
