I figured it out

i was using the second part of the tut. for the lightining. I was way off. But now i got the lightining down pat. Thx alot for that tutorial. the only question i have this time is why arent there more tutorials in this section. i know everyone here is talented so give me more please, im a newcomer to PS and would love the help in any department.

I confused about what to call you N....;) Btw, everybody doing SFX mostly in the Light Tables or the Challenge. I'm surprised too this section is so roomy at first.

Hiya NyGd, if you want help or a tutorial throw a bone into the forum. It is easier to create a short tutorial with a specific target in mind, rather than churning out tutorials for the sake of it.

Also, try a search engine with the words "photoshop tutorial," and you will come up with enough special effects to last 3 lifetimes.

Like said previously, if you have something specific you want to work on, toss out a request. If you just want to play and learn, take advantage of the tuts already out there.
