I'm afraid I have to go witht the guy at DBM forum, pink and gold don't mix too well in my eyes x|

It does have the stylish and sleek look all wallpapers of that sort usually have, but I don't think it's really that special. I mean, what does it represent anyway?

If you like that style I think you should try using some circular stuff too, it might be more difficult (hard to explain just what exactly I mean with circular stuff) but you don't run into those as often as you do with the style you used in this one.

Of course, it all depends whether you believe timespace is flat or not ;)

A wallpaper image doesn't necessarily need to represent anything. And if you put together some shapes and apply effects, it's kind of silly to try and give the image some meaning, to say it represents something when it really doesn't.

I think it's a cool looking picture. I like the glowy feel of the "shards", and I like the color scheme. Call me color blind but I think the colors in this pic mesh well. And I like the "desaturation zone" - even though it's a very common element in wallpapers. In this one it really brings something to the picture, and isn't just a trendy add-on.

On the complaint side of things, I'm not sure I like the "beyond time" tagline (though that might be just because I named one of my wallpapers "beyond infinity" a year back and ended up hating that particular name). The text element doesn't really seem to bring anything to the pic. It also looks sort of separated from the rest of the image - and even separated from the boxes underlining it, since the text doesn't share the pseudo 3D qualities of the boxes.

On the whole, I think it's an excellent piece of desktop artwork. Too bad it's not in my screen rez (then again, 3840x1024 rez artwork isn't all that common anyway... ;) )

[ a little view on the new one but I fixed it much better and took away some stuff and so on. ]

To aswer mark wards question on how I did maybe the tutorial with 3d studio max R4 will give a little hint...but much was done in photoshop too much to explain it.
