Help....New User!!

Ok, can use MGI Photosuite and Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4.0 but really am having problems with Photoshop 6.0. I
received as a gift and I'm confused. Besides Photoshop 6 Bible that you all have talked about, or there other
sources. Cds, on-line downloads etc. as far as tutorials go. Does 6 have place where you can save files etc like
these other two programs? Got some step-by-step rookie things to do, to get me staarted? Thanks, I'm
humbly the rookie but wish to learn from the pros.

Welcome tigerfly72,

My knowledge of the other programs you mentioned is slim. So I can't really answer your question without more
information about how they handle things.

As to intro information, I think the best initial book to buy is Photoshop 6.0 classroom in a book. It is step by
step, it includes a cd with the source images for the tutorials and it gives good general coverage of the program.

I am getting ready to teach a class on graphics for mutimedia next month. It goes for 12 sessions and gets into
some pretty advanced stuff. But many of the students are just starting out so I have to bring them up to speed
quickly. The way I go at it is that I start with an introductory class about big concepts, show them some work
and find out what they are after. The homework assignment is to read and do the first couple of chapters in the
PS Classroom in a Book. This way, on class two, I know they have the basics for what we will cover so I can get
into the more advanced stuff. Essentially, I rely on the book to cover the essentials of what we are going to
cover before they hit the classroom for each session.

I think you could read and do the examples for the whole thing over a couple of weeks in the evening. With that
you would have a good foundation to work from.

Hope that helps,

Greg

Here's some online material for the basics of Photoshop.
(Contains information from the tools and other simple stuff, very helpful in the beginning if you have time to read and expiriment while you're at it)
