It doesn't seem to be the complete link your posting; I can't access it.

No, not really. A single frame of that (that is from Final Fantasy, right?) would be easily done -- once you have the layout designed -- with blending modes and multiple layers. Give it a try with screen, and dodge blending modes.

there's an old action on Adobe Exchange for doing a hologram - it's called "hologram" (go figger)
I use it from time to time, but wind up making some further tweaks to the final output. You could see the steps there (most involve selections & blurs, then saturate/desaturate) and apply them - - -

This is the one that I found. There may be others, but I got tired of looking. I'll have to give it a try this weekend.

the action previously mentioned in the thread, does anyone know if that will allow printing of a hologram on either a paper or transparency, '
working on a university art project with a 2d medium and would love to put a hologram in there somewhere

I believe that printing a file from PS is a "what you see is what you get".
If this isn't what you mean, maybe explain it a little more.

basically is there a way to print what would look like a hologram on a 2d medium, for example if you look from one angle it flashes one color, and from another angle another color

I wish there was a way to do that. Kind of a wiggle picture effect?
I don't know of any off the shelf printer that can do that or any other printer.
I wonder if you do a web search on PS hologram if anything will come up.
Maybe someone will come along that can shead some light on this.

The web search found some interesting stuff , chech this website if your interested in fun lil party tricks http://www.amasci.com/amateur/holo1.html
but not really what im looking for. i found some websites that sell holograph stickers, mostly for like id security that would work, but id really rather create it myself seeing as it is for my art class and all. any idea how these companies produce these? special software, special printer?
any thoughts

You'd need to create your hologram with a 3D application. Holograms are printed using lasers! Think CD-R. A holographic printer could then create a holographic image of your object given time and probably also an exorbitant sum of money.
Aren't real holograms actually etched with lasers..

so i'd need a holographic printer, or just a 3d program?

Hahaha.
I just found a holographic printer system for sale on the web. It was priced at $200,000, but it did come with the necessary software included. $}
Jwalsh37, try having a look on the following website, they all seem pretty clued up on how to make holograms. I'm sure if it were possible to do holograms in Photoshop, one of the extremely knowledgeable people that frequent these parts would have known how to do it.

Hope the link helps.
