Lava!

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions for planets on the earlier thread...

Ok....I wonder if there are any good tutorials for creating realistic lava, and lava explosions/spurts. I am trying to recreate the showdown scene from Star Wars 3 for a graphic competition.

I have some good bg work so far, but I really want to make this stand out

What have you found so far, and what do you not like in what you've found?

You can search for the liquid plasma tut by strych9ine in here and use it to make melting lava, and adapt the rock tutorial at Phong.com to make solid lava, and then create cracks in there showing the underlying liquid lava...
